African Sky Education Director Honored as Outstanding Educator

African Sky’s Education Program Director was honored as an outstanding educator by his colleagues and Seminole County, Florida. Matt Sanders was honored as Seminole County 2010 Teacher of the Year Finalist during a county-wide ceremony in Orlando. Sanders, is a music teacher at Keeth Elementary School in Winter Springs. In addition to his expertise in the classroom, Matt is also a driving force in the efforts to build schools in Mali. Because of the efforts of Matt and his students, one of African Sky’s 10 for 2010 schools will be named Keeth Elementary/Primary School, and Keeth-Florida students will foster enduring friendships with Keeth-Mali students in future years. Principal Paul Senko observed: “Mr. Sanders has the keen sense of being able to balance being a teacher, leader, mentor and friend with the Keeth community. What a pleasure it is to see our children grow musically under the direction of this gifted teacher.”
