African Sky is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that creates enduring friendships between US and Malian communities to transform lives at home and abroad. As a community development organization, we work with individuals and communities to confront some of the devastating effects of endemic poverty and inequality. Our philosophy of community development is based on the belief that humanity's physical, ecological, and spiritual well-being is rooted in universal compassion and sustainable living. African Sky projects are organized according to four thematic service programs: education, community health, food security, and community arts.
As you explore our website, and as you consider how easy and fulfilling it is to reach across the globe in friendship, you will see why our African Sky family is growing. Africa is not a basket case. It is a continent filled with industrious, innovative, and generous individuals who fight endemic poverty and hunger as farmers, scientists, social activists, and policy makers. In service and deference to these individuals, African Sky was established to confront endemic poverty in rural Mali through long-term friendships between communities in Mali and the United States.
