In 2002 while Executive Director Scott Lacy was living in rural Mali as
a Fulbright Scholar, he recruited family and friends to raise funds for
a community development gift for his host village. We sold t-shirts to
raise funds with the Bougouni Browns Backers in northeast
Ohio, After only three months we had raised enough
to build a three-room schoolhouse.
After the school construction project, friends
asked how to continue supporting the school
and community, We transformed this infectious
excitement and momentum into an innovative,
people-to-people organization; African Sky
was born.
After several years of building our basic
foundation, African Sky has emerged as
an international friendship organization
dedicated to community development. |
